Pinoy Shiritori

K and I were watching another jdrama titled Voice. Of course, we discovered it because it stars the love of K's life.

Anyway, one of those episodes featured this guy who was not allowed to talk to his son anymore. But they secretly kept in touch by playing a game of Shiritori through email.

So K and I decided to play it too, through twitter. But we use pinoy words for it to be more challenging.

Well, what's Pinoy Shiritori? Here are the rules.
  1.  First player says a word. The next player should then say a word which begins with the last syllable of the previous word (e.g. kape -> pera)
  2. You can only use nouns. And you must take a picture of it. Images from the internet are not allowed.
  3. Players are given 24 hours to think of the next word and take a picture of it, and tweet it. If they are not able to do so, then they lose.
  4. However, you should be able to connect another word to the word that you're about to play as well. Otherwise, it's you who loses (ex. you play the word "yoyo" but you can't think of another word that begins with "yo" also, then you are the one who loses).
  5. Filipino words and those that are already integrated in the Filipino language and are used in day-to-day conversations can be used.
We've also invited J and M to play with us. In my dry runs with K, the game seems to be difficult. So let's see how long this will last.

my murtaugh list

last thursday, i was out with my friend Richie. while we were hanging out at Nuvo to supposedly have dessert, we had to discuss if we should get drinks as well. now this is worth mentioning since before i turned 28, going out with Richie would automatically involve alcohol (he's my most B.I. friend ever. :P). the reason is, as i've explained to him, i am trying to stop (or at least minimize) drinking. i just feel like i'm past that phase anymore. the drinking then getting woozy, then being so embarrassingly loud, then sometimes throwing up, then waking up with a really bad headache and weird tummy --- that does not sound as fun as it was before. and maybe it's just coincidence or it's really what made me realize it, but the last time i experienced all these was the day before my 28th birthday. so now, when a party or event involves shots (or at least pure dosages) of alcohol, i try not to drink at all (it would be harder to stop then). "so it's like you're too old for that stuff..." well, maybe? i don't know. i'm not saying i will never drink again, but i'm trying not to get drunk again. and then something ironic happened. when i got home, i watch an episode of How I Met Your Mother which turned out to be the "Murtaugh" episode. it's about Ted having a list of "i'm too old for this shit" stuff. taking it as a challenge, Barney took Ted's Murtaugh list and made a bet with Ted that he will do every thing on that list within the next 24 hours. in the end, Barney lost the bet. but Ted realized that even though Roger Murtaugh kept complaining that he was too old to be doing all that stuff, he ended up doing four Lethal Weapon movies and just kept doing more stuff every time. i know there comes a time in your life when you're expected to act your age and be an adult. but it was also fun when you were younger and just cared a bit less about the consequences, right? so maybe once in a while, it will be healthy for the heart to re-experience those silly stuff on your Murtaugh list. what do you think? i've got five items right now on my list. now, if you can suggest something that would belong to a Murtaugh list, i would like to take five more. then i'll try to do them all before June ends. any ideas? :D

ami

i have huge crush on Ami James right now. Sky Cable has this special preview of one of their Platinum channels every month. and this month, they're showing Discovery Travel and Living, which is the home of Miami Ink. and the show's really fascinating me, Ami being on it is just a bonus. so back to Ami --- he's someone who is totally crush-worthy:
  • he's a business man. he owns that tattoo shop that is featured in the show, and a club as well. for me being business-minded shows he has guts and a high-level of maturity.
  • he's really good at what he does. those tattoo arts are amazing! and i've always admired more the people who can do something that i cannot do.
  • of course he's cute. i would not have a crush on someone who is not at least physically appealing. and biased ako sa mga kalbo na gwapo.
  • he's funny.
  • and he's a total bad ass. i haven't heard so much bleeps in one show. he also throws some things (like pencils) at people (like his buddies/work mates) at times when he's pissed... i think we'll get along pretty well. hehehe! :D
sayang wala sa totoo buhay si Ami. or at least wala sya sa totoo KONG buhay. so even when i have to render over time work on most days, i try to be home before 11pm and continue work at home if needed. 11pm is Miami Ink season 3 reruns on TLC. yes, that's how much i like the show. now, let's see if it would be reason enough for me to shell out 400-pesos extra per month just to upgrade my cable subscription.

disappointment

i've always been a fan of the Amazing Race. and i religiously follow the series once i find the team to root for. i remember that for the finale of the Amazing Race 5, Faye, Lorie and me all took leaves from work just to watch the direct (?) telecast at 9am. back then we were all rooting for Colin and Christie to win. and damn it, they were beaten by Chip and Kim who luckily got an earlier flight back to the US. and what's more irritating is that they sort of lost because they were not as "animalistic" as with the previous legs. this year, i've been following the Amazing Race Asia 2, and obviously i am rooting for Marc and Rovilson to win. it has been very fun watching them goof off, and win almost all of the legs. but since they've been winning most of the legs too, i was already preparing myself to the idea that they might lose (just like what happened with Colin and Christie). however of course, i was still hoping and wishing that they'll win. and now after watching the finale, i am more disappointed that not only did they lose, they only came third! :( well, i'm sure they are disappointed too. and i am definitely not irritated AT them ("hindi ako naiinis sa iyo, naiinis ako sa sitwasyon", sabi nga ni Lloyd dati). but what's irritating is that out of all the times/legs, it is in the final leg that they have to lose their "luck". anyway, they really performed well in the race, a far cry from both Philippine teams from the previous season. and i am very happy that they were there proud and waving the flag of our country, even though they are not pure (or at all?) Filipinos themselves. to Marc and Rovilson, thanks for being great representatives of the country and congratulations on all your achievements in the race. :) now, if i were like J and see any of them, that's what i would have said. :D

i really should blog...

about the last musical play i saw, Avenue Q, and how "there's a fine fine line between love and a waste of time." about the zipping class i took last Wednesday with J and how i am liking it even if i've only tried it once. and i'd really like to dance again, and try on a new sport. about my new TV show obsession, How I Met Your Mother, and the funny things in life that it reminds you of. how it made me realize, for one, that i love being the person people go to bitch to (not "bitch about"), and how it'd be nice to find the person i'd love bitch to (not "bitch about"). and most of all, how it'd be funny, annoying and awesome at the same time to have a friend like Barney. about Gary and Dyan's wedding last Friday, and how i almost ended up with the bride's bouquet. that i found it funny to realize that i was the only "eligible contestant" in our table for the toss. and i thank my sort-of old basketball skills which enabled me to catch that last rose and saved me from the "higher, higher" garter tradition. how the girls with me in the table, Ria and Hannah, were talking about babies, their babies (!), and how it made me realize that we really are getting old and it made me think if i'm sort of late already for this rat race called "family life". but then i see the guys with us and can't help but notice how they have not changed since high school so maybe it hasn't been that long or it isn't late at all. about how it makes me sad that my best friends are moving somewhere far and so it would be much harder now to meet up, catch up and see them. how i would miss them sleeping over in my place on Friday night, watching DVDs even if half of them already feel asleep halfway through it, and how they'd wake me up before 8am on Saturday which makes me hate them. but of course they know how much i love them. and finally about how i think i am ready for phase 4, i'm just scared to admit it. well, let's see what happens.

ready for the trip

just 3 more days to go! now, i am officially excited. i have been keeping myself from the feeling since i was leaving room for disappointment. but now, there's very little room left for it, and i think i'll be able to handle it now whatever happens. my Spain trip is also pushing through. so i'll be staying in Oslo for 3 weeks and 6 days in Madrid. i'll try to chronicle my adventures in Europe through this blog, so i'm making a new label for it. be sure to check it out! :D in other news, i just finished watching Pinoy Big Brother, and i found that Bodie just got evicted. it has been a long standing "joke" in the office that we're all hoping for him to be kicked out since we need him back at work. but now i feel a bit guilty about not voting for him these past weeks. the truth is, we were all confident he'll make it to the Big Four... but, well you know what happened. too bad i'll miss his first time back at work (if he ever gets back soon). i wanna see for myself what kind of ruckus he'll bring to the building. now that would be exciting. :D

the class

when i first saw it on eTC, i think it was the second episode, i was immediately hooked. then i learned it was a David Crane creation, who is one of the makers of Friends, and that just made it more interesting. i wasn't able to follow it weekly, but i'd catch an episode every now and then during the weekends. and just last weekend, i saw a cliffhanger episode and i know i just can't wait anymore. mapet "provided" me with a copy of the first season last thursday. now i'm done watching all 19 episodes. obviously, i loved it. the cast is great. similar to Friends, there wasn't just one protagonist, rather there's 8 (which became 7) of them. i think the idea was original. and you can totally relate to all of the characters. and it was funny, really funny. which is why i am crushed and depressed. in my excitement for the second season, the first thing i did today was to search online when it will be starting. and what i learned is that just last May 15, CBS decided to cancel it. i really want to cry. apparently, it won the People's Choice Awards for Best New Comedy Series but the ratings were not that great. and CBS said it was affecting the ratings of How I Met Your Mother (which i also liked but now I HATE). and that they'd rather keep New Adventures of Old Christine rather than it. DAMN YOU CBS!!! i wonder if there's still hope that it'll be picked up again. i wish though i know it's unlikely. all i can do now is to ask all of you, my friends, to watch it too. watch and see how great it is. and just remember it existed. *cry*
